Congratulations to Kylie, whose university offers include the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, as well as four universities in the UK: Manchester, Birmingham, Southampton and Leeds.

How do you think the decision to join BISS has benefitted you during your education?

I have been at BISS since Year 5. The school has definitely benefitted my education by providing a safe environment and a friendly atmosphere. The diversity of celebrations in the school have forged my appreciation and understanding of different cultures.

How has the BISS community inspired you to achieve your goals and guide you through your education?

The community provides a supportive environment where I am encouraged to pursue whatever it is I enjoy doing. Most importantly, the Higher Education team has played a significant role throughout my application process by arranging regular meetings and giving useful guidance and suggestions. I am extremely grateful for the help and support I have received from them.

Which extracurricular experiences at BISS do you think helped shape you as a person?

I have actively participated in events such as those in support of Heart-to-Heart and The Giving Tree. In Year 12, I joined the Opening Minds, Opening Lives project, where we visit social organisations in Suzhou and nearby cities during the holidays. This opportunity enhanced my communication and organisational skills. In addition, I have always loved playing volleyball with my teammates and becoming captain my senior year has also allowed me to develop my leadership skills and team spirit.

On reflection, what has the IB Diploma at BISS done to set you up for success at university? 

The IB Diploma curriculum has prepared me for a more rigorous education in the future.

Time management and independent learning are two essential skills that I have developed and are both required to navigate the workload and responsibilities associated with university courses and assignments.

For families considering BISS for their child, what would you say to them?

BISS provides the education and support a family would hope for their child. The school offers a variety of activities, and I have really enjoyed the opportunity to play sports such as volleyball, netball and football.
