ORIENTATION DAY

PRINCIPAL'S TALK

Adrian Macaulay

Grace Tie

Michael Kay
SCHOOL
OPENING

As the lingering warmth of summer fades away, we are gradually ushering in the golden autumn season, symbolizing a bountiful harvest. After a fulfilling summer break, children are about to embark on a new school year. Whether it's their first time or a return to the campus, this moment signifies the beginning of a new learning phase and silently heralds the footsteps of growth.

ORIENTATION
DAY
In 2019, NAS Beijing Fangshan opened its doors. This year, we are celebrating the 5th anniversary of our school's establishment. On August 31st, we welcomed our school community members for the new academic year. They are not only our teachers but also the silent supporters of every parent and student. With new faces brimming with curiosity and aspiration, and familiar faces radiating warmth and hope, their trust and encouragement firmly uphold the school's goals and determination. Simultaneously, this represents a significant responsibility that constantly drives us forward.
During the registration day, students and parents came to the school together, listened to speeches by the principal and academic team, and joined their new class communities. We believe that by now, they have gained a preliminary understanding of the teachers, curriculum, and campus life for the new school year.

PRINCIPAL'S TALK

Adrian Macaulay
Superintendent
/ Executive Principal of Cluster CBL Schools
During the registration day ceremony, Mr. Adrian Macaulay, the Education Supervisor/Executive Principal of the bilingual school, shared heartfelt words expressing the school's expectations for all students in the new academic year:
"Consistency" is the key to progress and achievement. For students, consistency means attending classes regularly, completing assignments on time, and maintaining a continuous effort in their studies. With consistency in their study habits, they can build a solid academic foundation and progress towards their goals. It is through consistency that students develop discipline, perseverance, and a resilient work ethic.
True growth and development do not occur without challenges. Challenges push us out of our comfort zones and test our abilities. In education, challenges come in various forms - academic difficulties, social pressures, or personal obstacles. It is essential to see these challenges as opportunities for growth.
In the journey of education and life, we will encounter many obstacles and setbacks. It is through resilience that we can surpass these challenges and continue moving forward. Resilience enables us to learn from failures, turn setbacks into opportunities, and grow stronger in adversity. This quality empowers us to face the unknown, embrace change, and persist through difficulties."

Grace Tie
Principal
Dear students, teachers, and respected parents, Good morning, everyone!
Today marks the first day of the new semester, where students gather once again on our beautiful campus with fond memories of the summer and hopes for the upcoming academic year. First and foremost, let us warmly welcome new students and teachers to the Nas family and extend our warm greetings to returning students and teachers.
During yesterday's back-to-school ceremony, I shared four hopes for our students based on the educational philosophy embedded in our school's name. I hope that each of you becomes a person of high moral character and integrity. I hope that you excel both in character and knowledge, becoming individuals with strong virtues and abundant skills. I hope that you cultivate inner peace and warmth, demonstrating good manners and refined temperament. Finally, I hope that you grow to be responsible and collaborative individuals, fostering a spirit of teamwork and a willingness to help others. These educational ideals and philosophies are what teachers tirelessly strive to realize in our daily education and teaching. Therefore, considering these principles and the initiatives taken by the school in yesterday's orientation, I would like to express three specific hopes and requests for our students:
First, I hope that students will develop a deep sense of patriotism and become people of high moral character. Patriotism is a strong love for one's country, a sense of belonging, and a sense of responsibility to one's own nation and people. Those with patriotism not only love their homeland but also care about the country's development and the well-being of its people, willing to strive for the prosperity and stability of their nation. As students, it is crucial to set ambitious goals, diligently study, and continuously improve your own qualities so that you can become valuable talents for your country in the future. One day, each of you may study abroad, and when you find yourselves in a foreign land, you will strongly feel the significance of your homeland.
Second, I hope that students will develop excellent learning habits and become individuals with rich knowledge. "Youth is the time to work hard for a lifetime's achievements; don't waste precious time." Learning itself can be a challenging endeavor, and success is not achieved easily. However, if you can find joy in learning and cultivate good study habits, learning can become an enjoyable and fulfilling process. We not only need to acquire existing knowledge and viewpoints but also cultivate critical and creative thinking. Dare to engage in deep thinking and critically evaluate ideas, even questioning and challenging traditional beliefs and authoritative views, while putting forth your unique perspectives and innovative ideas. In the digital age, the competition is driven by wisdom, creativity, and imagination, as well as independent thinking. Therefore, for you, it is essential not to waste your precious time playing games, scrolling through social media, or watching meaningless short videos. What is the purpose of youth if you engage in activities that even those over 80 can do? Youth requires diligence, passion, and hard work.
Third, I hope that students will develop a clear sense of rules and become individuals who strictly adhere to them. Human society has many rules, and our school is no exception. We have various regulations and requirements, even penalty provisions. These rules are established to maintain a good order in our education and teaching, providing a structured environment for everyone. Imagine if students did whatever they pleased in class every day, and assembly gatherings were chaotic and disorderly—nobody would want to learn and live in such an environment. Of course, when faced with rules and requirements, students may feel oppressed and develop resistance. In reality, while teachers use these measures to guide you, it is more about creating and maintaining order. Ultimately, we hope that students can not only enjoy order but also contribute to it. We want you to help establish spontaneous order, reduce or even eliminate these artificial and rigid requirements. In the new semester, the school will introduce regulations such as the "Student Behavior Management System," "Flag-Raising Ceremony Regulations," and "School Uniform Dress Code," helping students develop good behavioral habits. I hope that students can enhance self-discipline in two aspects: first, in the use of electronic devices. Learn to use them reasonably rather than letting them control you. You can use them for learning, communication, and relaxation, but you should avoid excessive and addictive use. Second, in behavioral development. Creating a harmonious and orderly learning environment and fostering a healthy and civilized campus culture requires our collective efforts. Therefore, students should start with maintaining tidy classrooms, following classroom discipline, using polite language, helping each other, and cultivating good behavioral qualities.
The world is still changing and full of challenges. The kind of individuals you become will influence the future of our country. The abilities you develop will shape the future of our nation. In the new semester, let us, teachers and students, work together with enthusiasm and a spirit of determination to write a bright future for Nas Beijing Fangshan.

Michael Kay
Vice Principal
The newly appointed Vice Principal, Mr. Michael Kay, introduced himself to the entire student body and parents for the first time with great enthusiasm, sharing his international education background and his educational philosophy.
"I have been deeply involved in the field of international education for 25 years, and I bring extensive experience from top bilingual schools in China to my role as Vice Principal. I look forward to bringing value and contributions to the families of Fangshan Nordanda School.
My goal is to create an environment that inspires potential, where every student feels valued, supported, and encouraged. I firmly believe that collaboration between teachers, parents, and students is crucial. Through teamwork, we can establish a strong support system to ensure the success of each student. I am committed to building positive relationships with all stakeholders and maintaining open communication. I believe that by actively involving parents in their children's education, we can build a strong partnership that greatly benefits students in both their academic pursuits and personal growth."
SCHOOL
OPENING
On the morning of September 1st, a clear and sunny early autumn day greeted the school campus with gentle breezes. In this vibrant and lively season, the first day of the new school year arrived as scheduled. Students entered the school gates with joyful steps, greeted by the principal and teachers with warm smiles and caring gestures.
The first day of the new school year signifies new goals and new challenges. Students quickly transitioned into a learning mode and embarked on the journey of the new academic year. During the break, teachers had diligently crafted comprehensive and personalized teaching plans based on subject requirements and student needs, creating an educational environment filled with warmth and dedication.

We can see that the grade one students, guided by their teachers, have gradually overcome "separation anxiety" and taken brave steps to integrate into their new environment. The more experienced students, who are already familiar with the campus, have willingly extended comforting hands to their new classmates, helping them further adapt to the group. In the upper grades of elementary school, teachers have been assisting students in stabilizing quickly, establishing classroom rules, and guiding them to develop good study habits and school life routines from the very beginning. This gradual process aims to cultivate a sense of self-responsibility and improve their time management skills.
In the middle school, students have quickly become acquainted with the new semester's schedule and have swiftly immersed themselves in the study of various subject-specific courses.

We hope that every small step forward in the future for our students becomes an indispensable brick in the grand building of their life's dreams. We firmly believe that within the family of Nas Beijing Fangshan, you will grow to be more confident and resilient in facing various unknown challenges with determination.
