学校开设“三年制高中班”，为就读学生注册美国法拉古特学校学籍，所修读课程及学分均被美国学校认可，达到毕业要求者授予世界承认的美国中学毕业证。学校引进美国原版教材，同步美国中学课程，涵盖语言、数学、自然科学、社会科学、艺术体育及兴趣选修类课程6大类别，完美接轨美国高中与世界一流大学。

The school offers a “Three-year high school curriculum Program”. It also offers students to register to Admiral Farragut Academy. Our courses and awarded credits are recognized by American schools. Those who meet the graduation requirements are awarded a globally recognized American high school diploma. The school introduced the original American textbooks to harmonize the American secondary school curriculum, covering six major categories of language, mathematics, natural sciences, social sciences, art, sports and interest elective courses, perfectly bridging American high schools to world-class universities.

课程设置 Program Description

1.  Introduction

Admiral Farragut Academy was established in St. Petersburg, Florida, USA in 1933. It is a K-12 independent college preparatory school, validated by the Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS) and a member of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).

The school is named after Admiral David Farragut who was the first admiral of the United States Navy. Steeped in Naval tradition, AFA in Florida offers its students the unique opportunities to learn sailing, diving and marine science in the Gulf of Mexico. Students also have the opportunity to gain a pilot’s license during their high school years.

The Farragut School in China was launched in 2013 with the vision of bringing a quality US-style education experience to high schools in China. Students attending Farragut partner schools are given access to many of the same materials and academic opportunities as their counterparts in America. Students are also given the opportunity to take the Chinese Hui Kao, thus giving them the opportunity to gain both a Chinese and an American diploma. For this reason, the Farragut China program is considered a dual-diploma program.

Students in China are also provided the opportunity to visit AFA in Florida during their

high school years. They may come for any length of time from 2 weeks to 6 weeks, usually during the summer months. During their time on campus they get to interact with other AFA students from around the world and take courses that may not be available to them in China.

AFA’s long history, outstanding reputation, commitment to quality, internationaldiploma program and summer opportunities provide each and every student who attends a Farragut partner school with the advantages they need to study well and gain entrance into America’s more competitive universities and colleges.

2. The Bilingual Environment

Farragut China students are expected to be applying for universities in the United States or other English-speaking countries. These universities will not provide native language assistance to students during their course of study. As such, development of their English language skills is just as important as their academics. The following should be kept under consideration at all times.

- The primary language of communication within the school environment should be English. Although staff will find it necessary to communicate in their first language this should be kept to a minimum when around the students. All documents sent to parents should be bi-lingual to reflect the language environment of the school while maintaining effective communication.

- Students should be encouraged to use English at every opportunity. In-class discussions must never devolve into first language conversations. Teachers must take an active role to create and maintain the English climate of the school both within the classroom and without.

- All texts MUST be in English. Assignments and assessments MUST be completed and submitted in English. Grades for native language work product submitted by students will not be considered for the Farragut transcript.

- While it is important to maintain English as a primary language in the classroom, it is acceptable to provide minimal assistance to students, who require it in their native language.

3. 3-year graduation plan

School guidance counsellors guide and support each student through academic preparation and the college selection, application, admissions, and results processes.

We encourage our students take responsibility for their own efforts, trust their own   judgment, and chart a course for their own success.

Sophomore Year (10th Grade)

§ Using the College Board website for help, including PSAT review and prep

§ Consider your intended college choices, major, and career options

Junior Year (11th Grade)

§ Test to take: SAT, AP, and TOEFL.

§ Refine your application personal essay in English classes.

§ Request letters of recommendation from teachers.

§ Plan which colleges and universities you are going to apply for based on your personal and academic strengths

Senior Year (12th Grade)

§ Take SAT (if needed)

§ Meet with your College Placement specialist to finalize and mail in your applications.

§ Continue good academic performance and wait for the good news
