Students were introduced to International Week in their classes all around campus this week. There were many parents who came into class to talk to students about their respective countries and gave an insight introduction to their home countries, through a story book.


Using their active imagination, our little ones drew their country’s flag from scratch. Using crayons and paper and their deep thoughts to contrast the best flag they believe is their own. 


Students also learned the flag names and which student the country flag belongs to. An inclusive conversation spiraled as the students went on asking and answering questions about theirs and others’ home countries. 


International Expo held by our parents. This was a great way to introduce students to their home countries. The students ate, enjoyed, collected beautiful gifts and had an amazing time at the expo.

Year 2 have been busy collaborating for STEAM week! They have researched autonomy, artificial intelligence and self-driving cars. They explored how self-driving cars make decisions and the impact they might have on our community. 


We were impressed to see the children so committed to their groups when making their personalised cities and really enjoyed the challenge. The children were allocated specific roles by their group leaders and created buildings, bridges, roads, junctions, parks and even traffic lights to help to control the flow of traffic. After that was the testing stage where the groups programmed Beebots to move forwards, backwards, right and left. 


We had little people figures and some groups realised they had to add zebra crossings for pedestrians to safely cross the road. They could then see any problems or dangers the autonomous vehicle would face such as driving off the road or crashing into another self-driving car. We discussed the need for sensors and manmade barriers. Finally, each group reflected on what went well and how they could improve their city in future. It was great fun!

Year 6 have spent this week’s humanities lessons learning about the link between climate change and extreme weather events. They have examined the process by which cyclones (hurricanes and typhoons) are created and used computer software to track them. 


Your child now has the skills to tell you whether or not a typhoon is heading in your direction and what strength it is! Year 6 will now consolidate their learning by creating ‘extreme weather pictures’ using the Lens FX app. In the coming weeks, we will examine how flood damage becomes more or less severe dependent on factors including urbanization, strength of flood defenses and local geography.

While writing isn’t the most exciting activity when learning a new language, who says it can’t be fun?! Not the Year 1s! 


Year 1 have been learning to use the appropriate verbs to describe what they are doing and how they travel to school and/or around the world. They practised telling people around them what they were doing and what they liked doing when playing on the playground. To round it up, they first practised their writing of sentences by completing worksheets to give them an idea of how to start before they wrote their sentences on post-it notes and stuck them on the corresponding pictures on the board.

Everyone has a story book inside them. Writing helps us bring it out to share with the rest of the world and show everyone how amazing each of us are!
